Do you live a world without risk or uncertainty?

I doubt it. I certainly don't.
There is always a gap between what is universally true and what we know.
I see three possible outcomes from this assumption. One, fill the gap through learning and experience. Two, acknowledge the gap and be at peace with it. Three, live in ignorance of that gap and roll the dice with your actions.
Skiing in the backcountry has many hazards. One of which is avalanches. While actively skiing you never have the opportunity to assess the avalanche conditions analytically. So through experience and observation, you strive to identify the size of the gap between getting avalanched or not and perhaps close that gap as best you can through testing.
No test is perfect. No observation is perfect. They aren't supposed to be. They merely provide a chance to tighten the gap and the rest needs to be filled with you being at peace with your decision to ski or not.
Be safe out there and field your outcomes well. Live with your decisons.
